Long Time, No Blog
I haven’t written anything here in a while… I’ve been too busy with work and recovering from work… and what have I been doing to recover from work, anyway?
So, some various observations about that, some of which will be cryptic:
- Hanging stuff from the roof of the garage is just fun. No, not bodies. Stuff! Next stop: putting other stuff on the floor.
- Brasso (the brass polish) does work pretty well to fix scratches on XBox 360 games. I fixed my Ninety Nine Nights disc, just to have my ass kicked for all time.
- I finally remember why I really need to get back to the gym. It’s not the 10 pounds that need to turn back into heat & motion. It’s not the rubbery floor, sweaty steel, or other ambiance. It clears my mind out. This is good.
- Flying a radio-controlled helicopter is not easy. I still think flying a real one has got to be easier, or you’d hear more often about pilots in-training crashing them into buildings. In my case it’s the deck.
- Sometimes bad design works out. For example, MySpace serves up more banner ads by having terrible interaction design. (You have to go through all kinds of bizarre pages to get where you want to go, and supposedly around 10% of all pages served are error pages… and even THOSE have banner ads.) I wonder, if they fixed all the scaling issues, and reduced the number of pages the user had to click through by half… would they get twice the number of page impressions to make up for it?
- Uhl’s blog has really cool visualizations monitoring his training progress. Go Uhl!
- Friends & family are much more important than everything.
- I have way more than I need. What is this wanting?
- Anybody want a peanut?
- OK, that’s enough.
